One of them kicked Aman in face while he was lying almost unconscious. The pain was unbearable for him as blood oozed out of his mouth. The other guy took out his knife and slit his throat. They left him for dead and ran away. Aman’s world was fading out but before he took his last breath, an image dissolved-with-faded-colors appeared in front of his eyes. It was Neha. He blinked his eyes only to find out that he was alone. With a sigh he took his last breath.
“Why do you want to record it?” asked Neha. “I want to keep a memory of our first time.” Aman said curving his lips into a hypnotic smile. “Don’t you trust me?” he added. “I do, Aman”, She said adoring his smile. He kept his phone on the table and turned towards her. “I wish I could capture this moment.” he said recounting the dialogue from a movie. “You already are.” She giggled pointing towards his phone and they burst out laughing.
He lifted her chin and kept his lips over hers tenderly playing along the curves of her lips. It was magical for some reason and that was the spark required to flame the lust in both of them. As they began kissing, his hands slid beneath her top. She knew there was no turning back now, but it felt like heaven. It was like she had dreamed – magical. Ecstasy had taken them over and soon the room was filled with their moans.
They cuddled each other after making love and she fell asleep in his arms. On waking up, she found that Aman was getting ready in the casuals. “Where are you going?” she asked rubbing her eyes. “Hey. Good morning, sweetheart”, He said kissing her forehead. “Remember, I told you about mom. She is serious. Dad called a couple of hours ago. He wants me to come over for a few days. Just in case…” he said with a sadness prevailing in his tone. “Hey. It’s ok, Aman, everything will be fine”, she said getting up. Quickly she pulled the sheet to cover her naked body. The last night had slipped off her mind completely. His lips curved into a faint smile again. He hugged her. “It’s not how I had thought about this morning. But I will have to leave”, He said. “It’s perfectly alright, Aman. I will pray for your mother. Call me when you reach there, okay?” she said rubbing his back. They bid goodbye and she went straight to the bathroom after he left.
Looking at herself in the mirror, she could not help but recall the last night events. How she wished this morning would not have begun the way it had! She turned the shower on recalling last night again and again. Wearing her favorite red colored sleeveless top with skinny blue denims, she was all ready for college. This was one of those things she liked about herself - she was not into all that make up and stuff that other girls spent hours into.
As she walked into the college, she knew she would have to answer thousands of questions put up by her best friends, Tanisha and Riya. For the first time she wished she would have thought wrong but her wish did not come true. “We want every detail of every minute!” they screamed the moment they saw Neha with the widest grin on their faces. “Guys!” she cried. “Awww look who is blushing crimson.” they said in a rhyming chorus. She had no option but to tell them about the best night of her life.
Throughout the college, she could not concentrate on anything other than the sheepish grin on the faces of Tanisha and Riya. She tried calling Aman thrice but his phone was switched off. “May be the battery went empty already”, she thought. But this casual thought became serious when she was not able to connect with Aman at the night as well. Worried sick, she was tossing in her bed impatiently while looking at her phone every now and then. The alarm ringed the very next moment she had fallen asleep. At least it felt like that. She checked her phone with sleepy eyes but the phone displayed no notification of any missed call. “How could he be so careless?” she thought to herself.
With an angry expression, she rose up and got ready for the college. Tanisha and Riya were waiting for her in the corridor but she could not focus on anything. There was just one question in her mind “Why has not Aman called me even once?” Perhaps that was the reason why she could not see the sad and worried expressions on her friends’ faces and moved into the class saying a monotonous ‘Hi’. Probably they could understand why she was upset.
Each pair of eyes was set on Neha as she entered the class. She could not notice anyone in the beginning but as her thoughts cleared up, she felt everyone staring right at her. She gave a weird expression and sat down along with her friends. “Hey, it must be so difficult for you, Neha. I was calling you but you did not pick up and then you rushed into the class without listening or saying anything. I was saying, may be you could have taken off from the college for a few days. It might not be comfortable for you so soon, you know.” whispered Tanisha to her. “What are you talking about?” Neha said frantically taking out the phone from her purse. She had forgotten to put it on ring. “May be Aman had called too”, She thought. “Oh, sorry guys I have five missed calls from you”, She said with a disappointment in her eyes. There was no call from Aman. “Neha!” Riya exclaimed jerking her. “What is it with you guys? Why are you behaving… and why can I feel everybody staring at me?” Neha said looking around herself. “You don’t know?” Tanisha cried out. “What?” Neha asked in a confused tone. Riya gave her phone to Neha. She took it and the moment her eyes caught the screen, she received the biggest shock of her life.
Her eyes were filled with tears and she was quivering with the sudden shock. She was murmuring something which could not be heard by any of her friends. It was the same clip Aman had recorded the previous night. All of a sudden she was able to understand the staring eyes which were even more evident now. “How could he do it to me?” this was all she was thinking as the video continued. “Neha, listen”, Riya said taking back her phone. Neha grabbed her bag and ran out of the class. She could hear a few laughs on her way out. But she did not stop or reacted to any of it. Riya and Tanisha ran following her. The moment she was out of the college premises, she fell on her knees and started sobbing silently. Both Tanisha and Riya reached for her as they sat down beside her. Neha buried her face in Riya’s arms and started crying loudly. “Why did he do it?” she screamed as tears rolled down her cheeks. It was the worst day of her life.
Note: It is not a series. Just because the length was more than what I write usually, I decided to break it into two parts. I'll be posting the second part very soon.If you liked it, I promise you won't have to wait for long.
