Words are of essence to every writer. We use them to express, to heal, to take you to a whole different world. We spread loved, delve into the emotions, humor you and even spread awareness. But feeding a child through words? Well, that was a first. When I read that BlogAdda in association with Akshaya Patra is promising to feed one child for a whole year, I knew I will definitely participate in the program. What good are your words if you let go of such an opportunity?
Classroom Hunger has been around in India for long. It is true that children have to choose between hunger and qualification. Families are so poor that they can’t even afford to feed their child. It is therefore that they are sent to work. Who employ them? We do. You can see many child laborers around you. Why do you think they are working at that age? It is because they have no choice. If they don’t, they won’t be able to feed themselves or their family adequately.
Do you think that if somehow, they were promised food, the families of those children will send them for their education? Well yes, they will. There are several charitable schools in rural areas that will flourish if the parents don’t have to worry about their child’s hunger.
Don’t you think they deserve it? Don’t you think you can make this world a better place if you join hands against this big issue of Classroom Hunger? What happens when you fast? How do you feel at the night? What if you have to go through the same situation even for a couple of days? Yes, that is what they will go through if they chose classrooms instead of work and not merely for a couple of days. Days like that can be countless.
