What if you were forced into a marriage despite of the fact that you loved someone else. Time heals everything but how do you deal with a broken heart? Can you forget the person so easily?
Shruti is married to Rishabh and is quite happy with her present life. But has she forgotten Aman completely whom she loved from the core of her heart before marrying with Rishabh?
Anjali wants Aman and she is clearly in love with him. But what does Aman wants? Has he moved on even after two years of split from Shruti?
I have read 'Life is what You Make it' and 'The Secret Wishlist' by Preeti Shenoy as well and I am a fan ever since. But I may not find enough words to tell you how beautifully she has written 'The One You Cannot Have'.
Its one of those books you won't be able to put down if you have enough time. Frankly I wanted to finish it off that way too, as she has simply crafted the words in such a gripping and beautiful manner. The characters are so binding that you will get attached with them emotionally too soon.
The One You Cannot Have is a modern day romance fiction which ironically stays too close with reality. Especially in India, such things happen too often and thus you can easily relate with the characters. Preeti Shenoy has dealt with the relationships in a brilliant manner and every emotion touches you deeply. You won't recognize but you will start gasping, feeling, pitying, smiling and may be even crying for the characters.
Throughout the book I never 'for a single line' felt bored. The One You Cannot Have was thoroughly gripping and kept flooding the emotions inside me. Reading a few things you will find yourself asking "Why does such things happen?" to yourself.
The idea is totally thought provoking. Even the epilogue will intrigue your feelings and will make you think about 'The One You Cannot Have'.
I am so glad that I pre-booked it and read it so early and so should you. You won't want to miss such a fine piece by Preeti Shenoy. I even got the autographed copy and can't help feeling glad over it too. Oh and I will also like to boast about it here.

Nice review Anmol.. I did have a few questions about the impressions she left on the reader initially vis a vis the conclusion but her writing was a lot cohesive than most light fiction Authors.
ReplyAgreed with you. She writes really good and her narrative skills are awesome. A lot of Indian authors who write on the same genre can learn so much from him.
ReplyHello Book lovers,
ReplyFirst of all, I would like to say SUPERB to the author for this wonderful piece of relationship-guide-like book. There are very true moments that will tell a lot about relationships that you can and cannot have. Life is too preachy and we find it difficult to learn; however it must be done if you want to live the life the way you want. And the book shows and tells that thing.
Preeti Shenoy; Hats off to you; The author had mastered the Men's mind as the book tells what men thinks and what men actually do. Its tells the inner thoughts of every single men out there. A must read for people who love to see the world with a different view.
